Shipwrecks Beach Cottage is an ocean view 3 bedroom, 2 and half bath cottage located at Poipu Kai Resort, featuring sandy beach access, landscaped and lit walking paths and a resort pool and hot tub.

This two story beach cottage offers an unobstructed view of the ocean from its spacious, covered lanai, perfect for relaxing with a sunset mai tai while dinner is on the grille. The master bedroom suite is gorgeous, spacious, comfortable, all the while offering commanding views of the tropical landscaping and whitewater ocean views. The home is maintained to the highest possible standard and is upgraded and furnished for complete comfort with thought given to every accoutrement. There are recently installed ductless wall mounted air conditioning units throughout the home.

Shipwrecks Beach Cottage is situated within a two minute walk to stunning, white sand, crescent shaped Shipwrecks Beach and there is an easy, beautiful path to nearby Poipu Beach and Brenneckes Beach. Along the way is Poipu Kai Tennis and the resort pool and spa. The Grand Hyatt Kauai is located a seashell's throw to the east, a moonlit stroll away. Amenities at the Hyatt are numerous and splendid, including the Anara Spa, Poipu Bay Golf Course, wonderful shopping, and a variety of delectable dining offerings.

  This is the second time in three years that we have stayed in this neighborhood. The last time was next door to this rental. We had a medical conference at the Grand Hyatt next door but wanted space for our family. Literally this home is one minute to walk to the immaculate hotel, however, this home is less expensive per night then one room at the hotel. You never see any traffic from the hotel. On the balcony all you see in front of you is perfectly groomed grass and the ocean. There is a golf course about one minute walk on the opposite side of the home. This home and neighborhood were very clean and felt safe. There are chickens everywhere in Kauai but there were no chickens running around the property! Clean and kept.

  Had a great time staying at this location, walk to beaches for the children.
  Not a big issue, but both garbage cans were totally full when we arrived on Friday which was a pick up day. we put it all out on the Monday.
  Maybe renters need to be reminded or the cleaning staff can take them up if they are there on the right day.

  We spent 6 great nights at this home and were very sad to leave. This home was perfect for our family of four. Great location and very comfortable. Beach chairs, umbrella, and boogey boards were a great bonus. No complaints or constructive criticism whatsoever. You should know that the pool is a 10-minute walk, and if it rains, you may want to drive as we got caught in a brief rain "storm." We hope to return, soon!

  The rental property was fantastic. The location to the beach was literally a block down the path. We enjoyed Shipwreck beach and Poipu beach was about a 10 minute walk along the ocean. We enjoyed that beach as well and they had great snorkeling there. Another beach we found out about to late in our trip was the beach by The Beach House Restaurant which is about a 7-10 minute car ride (they also have great snorkeling so I was told). We loved watching the sunrise and the starts at night from this location. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. They have some pantry items but looked like items people left behind, as we did with seasonings and olive oil.

  We rented 6 nights at this property for a family reunion. The home was very well maintained, cleaned and equipped and the location absolutely couldn't have been more ideal. The home is right at shipwreck's beach, and the same path to shipwreck's is a greenbelt walkway that runs the opposite way directly to Brenneke's beach / Poipu Beach park in 8-12 mins of walking. No need to drive and hunt for a parking spot if you enjoy a short walk!

  We enjoyed our week stay with our 2 daughters and their husbands. Very nice location with good access to the whole island. We all went to church on Father's Day at the Kauai Christian Fellowship church in Koloa, a very friendly and welcoming worship experience. I think the Na Pali dinner cruise was the highlight although we really enjoyed the Waimea Canyon trail hike. We also golfed at Poipu Bay and of course spent a lot of time in the water and on the beaches.

  Great 3 br, 2 storey house located in lovely location: end of the block, unobstructed view of the ocean, just off the manicured green belt, and between two fabulous beaches: Shipwrecks and Poipu Beach including Baby Poipu Beach. Spacious lanai off main living area on the 2nd floor gives extra privacy, too. Well stocked for extended vacation. Some of the furniture is getting a little tired. Sound bar on TV did not work for us. Natural air flow very good mostly for maintaining comfortable inside temps. Spacious, open and great view.

  There were lots of things we enjoyed at the home and a few things we didn't. We love the location!! Not a far walk from Shipwreck Beach (10min) and just about 3/4 mile to pool and 1 mile to Poipu Beach. We LOVED the elevated porch. Has a wonderful view of mountain and a decent view of ocean (a big pretty tree is in way of complete ocean view tho). The kitchen was fully stocked with lots of utensils which was had an overall clean feel. What we didn't like tho were the appliances .... The fridge doesn't cool properly at all even when not totally full (freezer does tho). The stove is ancient and the dishwasher is disappointing. We ended up washing several dishes after coming out of dishwasher since they weren't clean. Lastly, the carpet upstairs needs to replaced and taken out all together in the 1/2 bath upstairs.... Any carpet in a bathroom is yuck! But besides the appliances and the one carpeted bathroom... We were really grateful for this home and it fulfilled our needs. We would for sure stay again.

  We stayed at Shipwrecks cottage June 6-13. Great location as this was our home base as we explored the beautiful Island of Kauai. Fabulous vacation and so overdue for our family. We had plenty of room for our family of 6. There was a glitch at the end of our stay as the propane ran out. But the wonderful property management took care of it in a timely matter. Cheers to Vicki. My only big suggestion is to put a portable A/C unit in bedrooms on first floor. We didn't seem to get the best breezes through the house. All in all A wonderful experience.
  I hope we are able to return someday and would definitely want to stay here. again.

  We stayed at Shipwrecks Beach Cottage while I attended a conference at the Hyatt next door. The convenience of the location was perfect. I could be at the conference in a 5 minute stroll through beautiful grounds. Brought my 2 kids (3 and 10 months) and grandparents. We all had plenty of space and privacy. The service was excellent. We did not have a pool key and it was delivered by Poipu365 immediately. The views were amazing. We saw whales from the deck! The kitchen was well stocked. Only complaint is that all 3 DVDs were not working. But we hardly noticed since we were always exhausted from perfect days at the beach or pool! Would definitely stay here again.

  Shipwrecks Cottage completely lived up to our expectations for a beautiful and comfortable base for our family vacation in Kauai and, in some cases even exceeded our expectations. The house is exactly as pictured - clean, comfortable and well located. Everything you could possibly need is provided - linens, loads and loads of towels, beach equipment for adults and children, a well stocked kitchen, barbecue, toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels , shampoo and conditioner.... just bring your groceries and you're all set. A true home away from home. We rented a crib, car seat stroller and hiking backpack for our 15 month old and it was all waiting at the house for us when we arrived. The master bedroom suite is large and air conditioned and we slept there with our son in the crib. My sister and my parents took the smaller bedrooms and shared a huge bathroom. Those bedrooms and the main living space are not air conditioned but in late Jan/early Feb, we were more than comfortable. There are ceiling fans all over the house and many large fans stored in the house if needed. The pool designated for our use is generally empty and we mostly had it and the hot tub to ourselves. It is about a 10 minute walk through Poipu Kai resort. Poipu Beach is right there as well which is a great beach for little kids.   Spent my 50th on Kauai with my husband, kids and significant others. The set up in the house was perfect! Master bedroom upstairs and the kids each had a room on the lower level. The location of the home is perfect! Private, and a wonderful view of the ocean. It is also located within walking distance of the Grand Hyatt, where there are hammocks and benches. We sat and watched the whales from the shoreline. All of the amenities you need are included in the home as well. Could not have had a better pick for our stay on Kauai! Highly recommend!

  We stayed 11 nights in this wonderful Cottage located in one of the best spot of Kauai.
  There is nothing wrong to say about this rental. Everything was simply perfect from the beginning to the end.
  Nice location with a wonderfull beach for our 4 children very close (Poipu beach park), nice house with plenty of space inside and outside.
  We enjoyed so much the location that we even forgot to leave the house on the right day... After a day at the beach we came back and discovered our mistake... As we missed our flight, the management company (Poipu 365) already prepared another possible spot for us to stay... But luckily we founded a Lat flight and leaves the island... Later but as planned...
  All this explanation to say that on top of a wonderfull house, we had a wonderful management company who was so nice with us.
  Once again thank you Vicky for all the care and support you gave to us.

  We just returned from Shipwrecks beach cottage on Kauai in PoiPu. Awesome location. The house was well equipped. We had a great stay in the spacious 3bd 2 1/2 bath house. Everything we needed was there to use. They even have a great selection of Beach chairs towels etc. The only complaint is that the house is showing some wear and tear from
  Being a rental. The Blinds in master bedroom all had broken rotation sticks so you had to do it with your fingers. The couches in living area are tired and need replacing. The kitchen has a broken light fixture over the kitchen sink. But that was it. Minor things. Awesome place to stay.

  Location, location, location: all perfect. On a quiet, dead-end street, with a clear view to the ocean (and occasional whale) albeit not right on the beach; short drive to Koloa town, restaurants, market, etc.; reasonable drive to both Waimea Canyon and north shore hiking trails.
  The house was spotless and very comfortable, with very well-equipped kitchen. Only complaint: the master BR gets stuffy and hot (unlike the rest of the house) and needed A/C, which was very noisy. A few minor problems arose, and were solved quickly by the very friendly and helpful Poipu365 staff.

  Had a fantastic Thanksgiving week at Shipwreck's Beach Cottage. The location was perfect as a launching spot for activities, going to restaurants in the Poipu area, relaxing at the house & enjoying the short
  walking distance to the Grand Kauai Hyatt & Shipwreck's Beach.The house was beautiful & the view was great. It was a touch noisy - just because we had a family w/ small children who were quite loud next to us. No noise from the Hyatt employee parking lot to speak of. The house is equipped with "toys" for the beach & plenty of towels & linens. The furniture is basic Hawaiian beach rattan which is perfect for the house. The patio has a great table & 4 chair combo, 2 lounges & a gas grille. The kitchen has everything you need to do basic cooking, although the stove & oven are not in the best of shape. And the refrigerator needed to "cool down" when we first arrived. Being a cook, I would've wanted more & better cooking equipment, but that's just me.The only "AC" in the MBD is a swamp cooler that has seen better days. There are ceiling fans in every room & additional fans that can be used in every room. We used all of them as the weather was in the 80's all week. I do think that they could use blinds either in the main room or on the patio to cut some of the heat when the sun shines in that area. Great restaurants: Merriman's (upstairs $$$ & down $), Savage
  Shrimp - cash only, Koloa Fish - great plate lunches, Bubba's, Jo-Jo Shaved Ice on way to Waimea. Activities: O'Hana Fishing, Captain Andy's & Kipu Ranch ATV Overall, our party of 5 adults loved our stay. We would easily do it again without reservation.

  This is a lovely,nicely decorated and well furnished cottage in a quiet neighborhood adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Resort property and a 2 minute walk to the ocean. A really nice location 2 minutes to the beautiful Poipu Golf Course and 5 minutes to several really good restaurants. The only down side to the house was the lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms (the was a unit only in the master and it didn't work well). Could have used more fans to get air moving at night. The pool accessibility was a little complicated-about a 10 minute walk or a 1 minute car ride from the house. Was warned by rental company to keep doors locked but that was not a problem. Overall, a great property. Thanks.

  Shipwrecks cottage is a modern, well appointed, clean, comfortable home ideally located a few hundred yards from the beach. It's a bit of a hike for the very young from boogie boarding and snorkeling (Brennecke and Poipu State Park) but certainly doable. We really liked being central on the island as it made it possible to head west or east/north for hikes and less crowded beaches as the weather dictated. We were told that the house didn't have boogie boards so we bought some at Costco on the way in--turned out that chairs and boogie boards were in a bedroom closet. I'd check before buying next time. Only the master bedroom has AC, so summertime could get hot but for winter it was fine. No worries about the parking lot (almost no traffic in there) but be aware it's in a close neighborhood and the house 'right behind' entertained nightly. Not disturbing, but you are aware that you're not in the middle of nowhere! I marked down the cleanliness only because the carpets could use a shampoo but after all, it's a beach house. Otherwise it was spotless with plenty of clean linen. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay with our 20something kids.

As the house is centrally located on a hill behind Poipu Point, we were able to walk to beaches and tennis.   I love the Poipu area and I have been interested in buying a home in this area. Until I do however, I appreciate the opportunity to stay in great rentals like Shipwreck Cottage. This cottage comes fully equipped and even stocked with spices left by other renters. The location is right on the Poipu Kai green-belt and just back of the ocean-front. It has an excellent ocean view. That it is positioned across a hedge from a large hotel employee parking lot was off-putting to me when I first realized this but quite honestly the car noise is no greater than that on a private residential street. In fact, the only time that you hear anything at all is at the 7AM shift start and in my experience, even this was minimal; a few car motors and perhaps a car door.

    Mahalo for your review John. The Hyatt does a great job of providing round the clock security at their employee parking lot and the distance and the hedges do a great job of screening the lot from the one window in the house that faces that direction. Hope to see you again very soon!
